In today’s society one phenomenon that is being mentioned over and over is that people are getting married later for various reasons. Another is the high divorce rate. So today at Li’el in a Staccato Beat we are going to take a second to do our part, as a media entity, to help spread positive messages not just through arts and entertainment, but through the other avenues out there! Through the events and resources out there to support our marriages! Here is information about an amazing conference from a well-respected ministry as well as links to other resources. I believe just as it is the media’s responsibility to portray positive role models, it is also our responsibility to help people find resources to make aspects of those positive images become reality in their own lives, to transform relationships.
Here is the ministry I want to highlight, devoted to making disciples of all nations FamilyLife‘, and it’s conference “The Art of Marriage.” Here is some back-story taken from FamilyLife’s website www.familylife.com:
The origins of the ministry can be traced back to 1951, when Bill and Vonette Bright founded Campus Crusade for Christ, now known as Cru in the U.S., to help fulfill Christ’s Great Commission – taking the gospel to every nation. Starting on one college campus with one couple, Campus Crusade has grown into a multi-faceted organization with tens of thousands of people serving in more than 196 countries.
From this simple beginning, Family Ministry grew and transformed. Married staff members saw the value in the work and asked for seminars on marriage. In 1978, in response to demand from community leaders, pastors and couples throughout the country, Family Ministry (now known as FamilyLife) opened its pre-marriage and marriage conferences to the public. We have been offering these tools for change ever since.
And here is info about the Art of Marriage conference, now that you know the story!
The Art of Marriage Event is a video experience designed for church and community settings. The Art of Marriage Event consists of six video sessions typically held on a Friday night and Saturday. These videos combine dramatic stories, real-life testimonies, expert interviews, humorous vignettes and other teaching methods to lay out God’s design for marriage in a fresh, engaging way. Guests attending the event are each provided a manual with projects to help them apply the principles taught in each session, augmented by dozens of articles and additional content to help them dive deeper. Over 175,000 people have attended one of over 3000 events held since its launch in February 2011!
